I’ve been wanting to go to South By Southwest (SXSW) for years, but something always seemed to get in the way. This year I’m in and I couldn’t be more excited. SXSW is a fascinating conference where upwards of 325,000 people converge to experience the newest and best innovations in music, film and interactive/digital media. It’s been the event where ground-breaking services like Twitter launched (along with a few that were never heard from again). Sure, there are recognizable attendees and presenters such as Al Gore and Big Sean, but often the most entertaining and informative sessions are led by people who are are changing the world through big ideas, even if you’ve never heard of them by name.
SXSW is a crazy kaleidoscope of education, entertainment and party mayhem set against the backdrop of one of the fastest growing boomtowns in the country. It’s a place to meet clients, network and just cut loose. I’ll be there to scope it out next week, so if you’re going to be in Austin and want to grab a drink or a bite to eat, drop me a note at kpedraja@voxuspr.com. Networking is what it’s all about. Well, that and the BBQ, of course.
